Sewing machine- A must for someone who loves sewing
Though I’m interested in many forms and arts and crafts, my first love is always sewing.I had learnt sewing from my mother and then from my sister. I used to stitch dresses for the dolls I had. Few years later I learnt stitching from a teacher. I used my mother’s sewing machine for practicing.
The sewing machine my mother has is nearly 60 years old. I remember , my mother telling, she had bought it for Rs. 60. Now also it is with her and she uses that to sew. She has taken care of that so well , even now it is working fine. She has specia bonding with the sewing machine :).
Here is the 60 years old ( I can say antique :)) sewing machine.
Even I have special bonding with this sewing machine, as I had lerant basics of sewing using this sewing machine.
From the day I learnt sewing, I was longing to have my own machine. This happens with everyone who learns sewing. The sewing machine I have now is Usha-Janome, embroidery machine. This was gifted by my husband. It is seventeen years old. I have used this machine extensively, stitched many dresses, used for embroidery , quilting etc. Still this is working very well.
Compared to the traditional sewing machine this has many configuration for embroidery, zigzag etc.
Many sewing projects are made with this sewing machine. Some you can view by visiting these links:
How to maintain sewing machine
Maintenance of sewing machine is very important. Here are some tips to maintain sewing machine:
- Never stitch anything which is beyond the capacity of sewing machine, like very hard materials, very thick cloths etc
- After use put oil. Many machine oils are available, I use coconut oil.
- Once in a year, get it serviced by authorized service centre.
If the sewing machine is maintained properly, then it will be in good condition for many years.
Designing one more saree, which I have already shared, in Work in progress on Wednesday. For designing this saree using the same machine. Will share once it is completed.
-Until then,
Love , laugh and live the life to the fullest,
