Parsi Ghara design Lace attached saree
This is saree designed with Parsi ghara lace attached to it. This is the second saree I designed with Parsi ghara design. Earlier I had designed with similar kind of lace.
This one is shaded saree, with purple and grey shades.
What are Parsi Ghara Sarees?
Parsi Ghara sarees are Indian traditional embroidered sarees. These have intricate hand embroidery. Normally the embroidery have floral and nature designs. This kind of embroidery is known as, “Ghara”, embroidery. The Ghara embroidery technique originated in Persia and was brought to India by Parsi traders. The technique involves using fine silk threads to create intricate patterns on the fabric.
Parsi Ghara sarees are highly priced as these have very intricate embroidery. The similar kind of embroidery is achieved using machine now. Though the intricacy is not achieved, the beauty is somewhat same. Nowadays there are many laces available in Parsi ghara embroidery. I have attached similar kind of lace here.
I have attached the lace along both the borders, and along the edges.
I will write about the complete history and in detail information about these sarees in my saree blog.
I am planning to design blouses for these two sarees. For one I will be using tatting, for another I will be using embroidered material. Keep you posted about the designs.
Until then,
