Tatted saree kucchu (Edge)
This is a tatted saree kucchu for the Kutchwork embroidery saree I designed recently.
A saree kuchu (also called saree tassels or saree latkans) are decorative tassels or fringes that are typically attached to the pallu (the loose end) or the corners of a saree. These delicate and ornamental accents have the potential to enhance the overall beauty of a saree.
There are many techniques used for making saree Kucchu. I use tatting and crochet.
The kuchu serves as a graceful finishing touch, adding a soft, flowing element to the saree. It can make the saree look more elegant and poised, especially when paired with a classic drape. The movement of the tassels while walking adds a dynamic element, making the wearer appear more graceful.
Kuchus are often associated with traditional wear, especially in South Indian sarees, where they have cultural significance. Their presence reinforces the traditional appeal of the saree, making it look more authentic and culturally rich. It also connects the wearer with the heritage of saree craftsmanship.
I am designing another saree with tatting. That will be completed soon. I will share the same in near future.
