Dress design with tatting and mirror embroidery
I always love to dress design with tatting. Tatting can be used for dress design in sevaral ways.
- Necklines and Collars: Adding tatted collar to frame necklines or as detachable collar pieces for a vintage or delicate look.
- Sleeves: Using tatted motifs or edgings to decorate sleeve cuffs or as inserts in sheer sleeves.
- Hemlines: Finishing the hemline with a border of tatted lace for an elegant touch.
Tatting also can be combined with sevaral kinds of embroideries to enhance the beauty of dress.Combining tatting with embroidery is a brilliant way to merge two intricate arts, creating stunning designs with added texture and depth. Thesea are the some ways I use embroidery with tatting.
- Using tatted lace as flower petals or leaves, and embroider the stems, vines, or additional details.
- Add embroidered centers to tatted floral motifs using French knots, beads, or satin stitches.
- Using mirror work here and there after attaching tatted lace on dress.
Recently I cfinished making one such dress with mirror work.
On the neckline and on the border I have attached laces.
Here is the closer view of the neckline.
I have attached small mirrors in between. And on the border also I have attached two laces in differents pattern, and attached the mirrors in between the motifs attached.
I could not leave the sleeves, so attached the lace and mirrors.
I am making one more dress using simple squares and mirror work. I will share in the coming posts.
Until then ,
