Best out of waste
As we approach the future there is a conscious effort by all to make the best possible use of all the resources available to us. Best out of waste has become a huge trend when it comes to crafting. In fact children as young as five are being trained in creative thinking by asking them to make imaginative projects from things which are normally discarded.
It requires just a wee bit of imagination!
There is an inane pleasure that one gets from making something beautiful out of nothing at all. In France there is a different art practice which has taken form from using things which are called waste and is called ‘Bricolage’. There are some great installations displayed in famous museums which have been made using this art form.
So thinking about some nice best out of waste ideas, I decided to use small pebbles and stones found in the ground near my building to make this cute canvas for the little ones. Art, craft and best out of waste all together!
We need the following for this project:
- Various shades of Fevicryl Acrylic Colours Green, Teal Blue, White, Yellow, Pink, Orange, Sky Blue, Burnt Sienna and Red.
- Paint brushes
- Sponge
- Colourful pebbles and mosaic pieces
- Canvas 12 by 12 inches
- Water container
- Fabric Glue
- Pencil
- Wooden beads
So we start by taking a plain canvas board. Draw a rudimentary landscape with the help of a pencil.
Paint the sky in varying shades of blue and fields in varying shades of green. Ensure gradation is proper and goes from dark to light from the edges to the center.
Use the tip of the handle of the brush and white colour to make the flowers.
Collect stones of various shapes and sizes.
Paint on them depicting trees and train bogies with various bright colours. Leave them to dry.
Paint a railway track through the meadow and bark of the trees using brown colour.
Paste the square pieces of the mosaic onto the track, like a train as shown in the image. Then paste wooden beads for wheels of train. Leave it to dry.
Similarly paste trees onto the tree trunks.
Isn’t this simply adorable and is super easy to make too! Kids will be really happy making art and craft from waste material, something that they didn’t ever think can be used to decorate.
It just takes some thinking out of the box to have art and craft ideas galore!
Happy Crafting!
