Collection of Batik paintings I have
Batik painting ancient type of painting which is made using wax and chemicals. These are basically from Indonesia , but Indian artists have developed their own style. This art has majorly flourished in West Bengal, Orissa and Andhra Pradesh . You can read about batik painting in this link .
I tried to learn Batik, but till now not successful. I tried it , but it was a disaster :-). You can see the batik disaster here :

The painting is of 3 elephants, but in any angle these are not looking like elephants. I’m trying to recognize it, I think its looking like lizard… !
Whatever, I will try it again. But I have a good collection of Batik painting- I have some good sarees, dress materials and paintings. These are the one I bought recently from an artisan of West Bengal:
Both are dress materials, planning to embroider on it. But sometimes getting confused, will the embroidery spoil the beauty of the painting . Can you please suggest ?
Love , laugh and live the life to the fullest,

very creative pieces, Ranjana. :))
Thank you , Panchali.
You really have great collection. I liked the last two.
Thanks, Rajesh.
I feel thsi as such is beautiful.Simple but elegant…:-).With embroidery its look changes i think.
Thank you Raji for your suggestion. I will keep the blue one as it is and embroider on the brown one.
I think the batik piece you have done is beautiful , and the elephants are quite visible ! It`s only the background that`s taking away the attention from them . You could try to highlight them by using fabric painting outline in certain areas and giving it a touch-up .That`s what I do . The colour of the outline should be same but a slightly darker tone and only in certain areas , not complete so it looks subtle.
As for the dress materials , the same applies . Only you could make it more grand by using zari thread and embroidering the outlines and you will be amazed with the result !
I hope this has helped . Do post the finished piece soon
Thanks. I will hand embroider the brown one and keep the blue one as it is. Will definitely post about the finished piece.
I too think the print you have done is also quite good..and the last two are the most elegant..I think you should let it remain as it is..
Thanks Ranita.
I have a collection of batik fabrics.I've never tried batik painting but would love to.I don't think your work is a disaster.Where did you get the materials from?
Thanks Ina. I purchased the chemicals from Commercial street in Bangalore.
I think they look like elephants , I am not an expert but I like your design. You have such good taste.
Thanks, Suganthi.
beautiful collection indeed.
Thank you, Fayaz.
I think the painting in itself is awesome !!! Embroidery might take away the attention from it … I would suggest let it remain like this … its beautiful !
Thanks TTT. Even I feel the same.
simply fabulous !! loved your work … very inspiring !
Thank you.
Beautiful…Relished it… Nice one… 🙂
Thank you.
Nice work.
Embroider on just one first see the result, if it satisfies you then do on others.
beautiful collection…..loved the Third one
I would say, leave as it is. It's looking beautiful. And you should also give the painting one more try.
I love the last bit but please do your embroidery on a plain cloth it will be more striking.
I tried my hand at batik too..if you start with a simple design it will come out fine–practice makes one perfect.
I suggest do not embroider. Frame them. Embroidaring might spoil the beauty of the painting. BTW your first try wasn't that bad according to me. Keep trying…
Please keep them as it is…nice pictures.
beuatiful item…
Lovely… and I need your help. I have been looking for such materials for myself since ages. Can you please share the details of the artisans from whom bought these? Do they ship outside WB? I'd really like to own one such piece. 🙂
