Design Of the week – Floral design for long and short stitch
This is a simple floral design. This can be used as motif on dress, saree or bed sheets. I have drawn this design and used anchor embroidery skeins to embroider this design.
Here I have used long and short stitch. Long and short stitches are especially used in thread paintings.
“Long and short embroidery,” also known as “needle painting” or “thread painting,” is a technique in embroidery where threads are stitched in varying lengths and directions to create a shaded, dimensional effect, often resembling the strokes of a paintbrush. This technique is commonly used in creating intricate designs, particularly for botanical motifs, portraits, and other detailed images.
In long and short embroidery, the length of the stitches varies to create a smooth transition between colors or shades, allowing for a realistic representation of depth and texture. Typically, shorter stitches are used for areas requiring more detail or highlighting, while longer stitches are used for blending colors or filling in larger areas. This embroidery requires lot of patience and time. So I will be using this design for a smaller project.
The stems are embroidered with stem stitch and the pollens with french knots.
