Exploring the Enigmatic Borra Caves
Hidden amidst the lush greenery of the Eastern Ghats in Andhra Pradesh, India, lies a natural wonder that captivates all who venture into its depths – the Borra Caves. These caves, formed millions of years ago, offer a mesmerizing journey through time and geology. I visited this cave when I went to Vizag to attend out Annual tatting meet. I was mesmermized by the this beauty created by nature. It is nearly 90 kms from Vizag. In between we visited Araku Valley,.
We need to buy ticket.
The cave is below the normal plane. We need to climb don some steps.
Now to walk inside the cave, pavements are made also lights are installed. But imagins there lived a tribal long ago, without light. I just wonder about their life.Prehistoric tools and artifacts found in and around the caves indicate that early humans may have utilized the caves for shelter and as a base for hunting and gathering. These early inhabitants likely belonged to ancient tribes native to the region.
The caves have not only served as a canvas for nature’s artistry but also as a canvas for human history. Archaeological excavations have uncovered evidence of prehistoric human habitation, with tools and artifacts dating back thousands of years. Local legends also speak of the caves’ association with ancient sages and spiritual practices.
Carved out of limestone by the Gosthani River over millennia, the Borra Caves boast a unique tapestry of stalactites and stalagmites. These formations, shaped by the slow drip of mineral-rich water, create a surreal landscape that seems straight out of a fantasy world.
This is a place where a photographer would love to visit and capture through camera. I really missed my DSLR, but could capture some photos with my mobile. What I have captured , will be sharing in the next post.
Until then,
