Handmade Rakhee- Foamiran Flowers

The season of festivals, in few days we will be celebrating Raksha Bhandan- the festival of bondage between brothers and sisters. Country is suffering from natural calamities. Mind and heart both do not want to celebrate any festivals. But this festival is about human relationships. Celebrating the relationship between two humans, who have shared many things in life. To nurture the bondage and recollect the sweet memories of our bondage, I’m sending these handmade Rakhees to my brothers.

Foamiran Rakhees this time:

Every year I make rakhees and send it to my brothers. Few years ago I had made quilled rakhees, and two years ago  rakhees were made using polymer clay. Last year I tried Rakhees using Soutache threads.

This time I wanted to make Rakhees using resin craft. But I don’t have enough materials to make Rakhees using resin. So decided to make Rakhees with handmade Foamiran flowers. Most of the crafters know about foamiran flowers. These are made out of thin foam sheets and colors. I have used oil pastel colors. One can also use archival ink.

To get better finishing in foamiran flowers, need to use die cut machines. I don’t have a die cut machine. So used scissors to cut the flower petals. I’m feeling die cut machine is required for paper craft. Planning to buy one soon.
