Hankies with tatted lace
Decorating handkerchiefs with tatted lace has a long and intricate history, intertwining with the evolution of lace-making and personal adornment.Though I am not a fan of decorating hankies with tatte lace, I made two laces for hankies.Although handkerchiefs have largely been replaced by disposable tissues in daily use, tatted lace remains a favorite among lace-makers and craft lovers. I wantes to gift these hanies to my friend.
Here are the laces I made and attached to the hankies:

The hankies
I have used the tatted lace extensively for dress design and saree design. I also love to use the tatted lace for saree edges or kucchus.
Both the patterns are from interenet.

Handmade lace-edged handkerchiefs are still used for:
- Bridal Accessories – Brides often carry lace-edged handkerchiefs as a “something old” or “something handmade.”
- Heirloom Keepsakes – Families pass down beautifully decorated handkerchiefs as sentimental treasures.
- Religious Ceremonies – Christening and communion handkerchiefs may feature delicate lace tatting.
- Craft Revival – Modern lace-makers continue to explore tatting as both a traditional and contemporary art form.
Though , I was not so eager to make tatted lace for hankies, I found a way to finish the unused threads or left out threads after a big project,so planning to make some more.
