How to make a nest- Kids’ craft
Summer vacation started for kids. It is tough time for moms. For mother’s , it becomes difficult keep their kids busy. Most of the moms send their kids to Summer camps. Summer camps are like boons for mothers to keep their kids busy and also kids learn there. Some mothers eagerly wait for reopening of the school, including me :-). Most of the kids nowadays are busy with gazettes, which is very harmful to their health. Instead they can learn some crafts, which will also help them in making projects given in the school. I have already shared some tutorials to make different models for kids’ school projects.
Here I’m sharing a simple tutorial to make a nest, which you can use as pin holder too. This is made using the ball shaped cover of gems chocolates.
Simple tutorial to make nest:
Here is the simple tutorial to make the nest.
The required materials :
- Ball shaped cover of Gems chocolates
- Coir
- Thermacol( if you wish to make pin holder)
- Cotton
- Small models of birds(available in craft shops)
Cut the ball shaped box for required size. Draw a line for the required size and cut with knife. Heat the knife a little, so that it becomes easy to cut plastic.
Then cut the thermacol to a size, to fix inside the nest. If you want to use this nest as pin holder, follow this step. Otherwise this step can be omitted. Fix the thermacol using fevicol or glue gun.
The apply sufficient fevicol on the other side of the box and attach the coir:
With glue gun or fevicol attach sheet of cotton. Fix the small models of birds , with glue.
It can be shaded with dark brown color:
The small models of birds are available in crafts shops. I have bought it from Itsybitsy. This can also be made. Will share the tutorial to make model of birds in the coming posts.
Until then

Mind blowing ideas , creative mind , must appreciate !
Thank you
It looks quite cute, too…guess kids will have double the fun ☺️
Thank you Alok
Wish this tutorial was there some years back. I had to make a nest for my daughter’s science project .Frankly I am not very good at these and I did not want an artificial looking nest. The coir idea did not strike me at all. I managed to find a discarded squirrel’s nest and used it 🙂
Your idea is also good. 🙂
That’s a very cute project. 🙂
Thank you D
