How to transfer design on stitched dress
Many readers have sent queries how to transfer design on stitched dress. Sometimes, we wish to redesign an old dress or a plain dress. In that case, the transferring embroidery design on the stitched dress is quite tricky. Small motifs can be traced easily. To transfer design on the neckline is quite difficult. If the neckline is square in shape, straight designs can be used. I have shared the tutorial in my previous post, to transfer designs which are linear.
Different methods to transfer design on stitched dress:
One method is to draw the the design directly on the dress with free hand drawing. If small motifs are to be traced, then it can be done using tracing paper.
The materials required are :
1. KG card board or any thick paper sheet
2. Tracing paper
3. Carbon paper
4.Pencil
This is the dress I have chosen to trace the design:
2.Place the KG cardboard on the dress, where design has to be traced
3. Cut along the the shape where the the design needs to be traced.
4. Draw the required design on the paper sheet
5. Now transfer the design using tracing paper
6. Now transfer the design on the dress using carbon paper as shown:
Now the design is transferred and this design can be embroidered. The embroidery hoops can also be used , while embroidering.
