Kasuti embroidery on a dress
Kasuti embroidery is a traditional form of embroidery originating from Karnataka, India. It’s known for its intricate and delicate needlework that is often done on cotton fabrics. This craft is deeply rooted in the cultural heritage of the region and is renowned for its fine craftsmanship and artistic designs.Kasuti embroidery has been practiced for centuries in Karnataka, with its roots tracing back to the Chalukyan and Vijayanagara periods.Over time, the craft has evolved, integrating new motifs and techniques, but it has retained its traditional charm and techniques.
Kasuti embroidery features delicate and complex stitch patterns that create a visually striking effect. The detailed designs, often including geometric patterns, floral motifs, and traditional symbols, bring a unique texture and sophistication to any dress.I have used Kasuti designs on this dress.
Here I have used a border and motifs designs. This Kasuti embroidery on dress inlcudes peacock and chariot motifs, and small and big borders.
At the edge, I have embridered with a border and motifs:
The border inlcudes a border design, peacock motifs and Gopura motifs. And also small floral motifs.
Here are the closer looks of the motifs I have used:
Along the neck I have used small border:
