Kasuti Embroidery on a dress border
I have started learning Kasuti embroidery, some I am learning on my own and some I have learnt from a teacher. I have tried some motifs of the Kasuti embroidery. There are some traditional motifs , practised in Kasuti. Some are Gopura design, peacock design , steps, chariot etc. Here I have used Gopura design and peacock design on a dress.
The border of the dress:
The border also has a Kasuti border, and I have embroidered Gopura at the centre and both the sides peacock designs,
In between, the floral designs in Kasuti are embroidered.
Kasuti is an intricate designs. We normally put a net to embroider the designs. And after the design is embroidered , the net is removed , by pulling the threads out. In the beginning it looks very tedious and cumbersome, but once practised, it becomes easy. Any art it is the same, with practise we feel it is easy and start enjoying the making. I have fallen in love with this Kasuti embroidery. I have to embroider on the neckline too. I couldn’t resist this new learning of mine. 🙂 I am starting a Kasuti embroidery on a saree too. I will share the progress of these works in coming WIP posts 🙂
Until then,
