Kerala Mural painting on rolling canvas
This is the biggest Kerala Mural painting I tried. My attempt to learn Kerala Mural started in 2017. I was always attracted by this colorful ancient paintings. I have started learning this form of art, from a trained teacher. The first one I made on canvas board. That was Krishna and Gopika image. I had shared the Kerala Mural painting tutorial too, after I made the painting. The bonding with Kerala Mural became stronger, so I wanted to learn more.
Then I got an opportunity to learn under authentic Kerala Mural teacher. I painted Kerala Mural on Bamboo.
Recently I painted only Krishna’s face on stretched canvas. That I have shared in this post. So I was little confident to try Kerala Mural painting on bigger canvas. This is 33X36 canvas. Quite a big one for learner like me. I had shared about this, in WIP post , when I started this painting. It nearly took one month to complete this painting. As this is an order from overseas, I had pressure of completing this on time. But I thoroughly enjoyed the stress of completing this painting. The picture was inspired by an image in pinterest .
Here is the completed painting
I worked on this everyday. I used to go to my art school weekly thrice and get the instructions from my teacher. Every night I worked on this painting.
The face is the most difficult part in painting. Little bit of mistake will entirely spoil the painting. My teacher helped me a lot to complete this. That is why it has come out very nice.
Just to get the idea of the size I am sharing these two pictures.
While doing Kerala Mural panting, I feel it is like color meditation. I feel soothed from inside, and my days will be calm and nights will be peaceful. I really experienced inner happiness while making this painting.
This painting is moving to Germany, as I have already told it is made on order. I am making one more Kerala Mural painting on saree, which is work in progress. I will start working on the saree, and will share in coming posts once completed.
Love, Laugh and Live the life to the fullest,
-Ranjana
