kutch work saree – with simple Kutch work motif
This is one more kutch work saree I designed recently. Similar design I had shared in my previous post. I have used simple kutch work motif for this. Kutch work (also spelled Kachchhi or Kutchi) is a traditional form of Indian embroidery from the Kutch region of Gujarat. It’s known for its intricate and vibrant geometric patterns, mirror work (shisha), and fine stitching.
Here is the saree I designed with simple Kutch work:

The saree I designed
This kutch work is also known as Sindhi taropa.
How to use small Kutchwork design to designa saree:
Though Kutch work motifs look very simple, the intricate weaving of the embroidery makes it look very elegant. Small motifs also can be used to enhance the beauty of a saree.Simple Kutch work motifs can beautifully enhance sarees by adding handcrafted charm and traditional detail. Here’s how you can use them in saree designs:
Kutch work Border Design
-
Motif Placement: Small Kutchwok motifs cab be embroidered along the saree
-
Style Tip: Alternate colors or mirror placement for a rhythmic pattern.
-
Effect: Adds elegance without overwhelming the fabric.
Kutch work Pallu Statement
-
Motif Placement: Clustered or larger version of a simple motif on the pallu (decorative end).
-
Additions: Combine with mirror work, tassels, or additional threadwork.
-
A single larege motif can be embroidered , around which small Kutch work motifs can be embroidered.
All-over Buttis
-
Motif Placement: Scattered single motifs (buttis) across the saree body.
-
Spacing: Uniform or slightly irregular for an organic look.
-
Effect: Subtle texture, perfect for everyday or office wear sarees.
-
I have used all ober buttis or motifs in this saree.

All over motifs style
Along the border the three motifs are placed. On the pallu, all over motifs are embroidered.

On pallu all over
Along the border I have attached small piping border. I normally don’t embroider on the blouse of an embroidered saree. Here given this contrase blouse in banaras weaving, in green color.

Contrast blouse for the saree
This I designed for my Veene teacher. She is very happy with this saree. I have also finished one more saree, with feather stich and sequins embroidery. I will share in the coming post.
Until then,
