Kutchwork embroidery on a silk saree
Kutchwork embroidery in an elegant form of embroidery. I always love this embroidery. I have shared many Kutchwork designs. I have tried many designs of Kutchwork on sarees. On sarees this embroidery looks very nice. This saree I had designed has more than thousand motifs with beautiful motifs on the pallu.
This is my mother’s saree, old Kanchi silk saree with temple border. This my sister in law took. This she felt very plain, and wanted some embroidery on this. I thought the Kutchwork will be perfect for this traditional saree. The border has peacock motifs, in combination with that , I embroidered Kutchwork motifs and in between placed the mirror.
The threads I have chosen is silk thread of the saree color, that is light pista green. The mirror work done is Anchor thread, in golden yellow. I chose golden yellow to match the zari. I could I have chosen zari, but I thought that will spoil the soberness of the saree.
Closer view of the border:
On the pallu, I embroidered the big motifs in light green color and the small motifs in dark green color.
The pallu looks like this:
The pallu has paisley designs in zari thread, which is complementing the Kutchwork embroidery motifs.
Closer view of the pallu :
All over the body the small motifs are scattered.
The motifs are scattered aalong border, till half of the saree. Near the pallu the Kutchwork motifs are all over the saree.
The small Kutch motifs are in dark green and maroon colors.
This kutchwork embroidery has completely given new look to the saree. I have shared the video tutorial if you wish to learn Kutchwork embroidery.
