My first tatting doily
This is my first tatting doily.Tatting is an intricate form of lace-making that involves creating delicate patterns using a shuttle or needle to knot thread together. When it comes to tatting doilies, artisans weave together tiny knots and loops to form circular or oval-shaped designs that are both elegant and functional. I had tried tatting in dress design and saree designs. Never tried a tatting doily.
Tatting doilies serve as beautiful decorative accents for tables, shelves, or even framed artwork. They add a touch of vintage charm to any room and are often cherished heirlooms passed down through generations. Crafted with patience and precision, each doily showcases the skill and artistry of the tatter. My tatting group friends make several doilies. I always used to admire and never got courage to start a doily. This is the first doily I made.
Here I have used Doli thread in peach color. The rose patterns are made using the Doli thread. And the green thread is Anchor thread which is given by my friend.
You can find the pattern of this doily here. First the rose flowers should be made. Then the flowers are joined using pattern made using green thread.
Here is one more view of the doily
From simple geometric motifs to elaborate floral patterns, tatting allows for endless creativity. The process requires attention to detail and a steady hand, resulting in exquisite pieces that captivate with their intricate beauty. Whether displayed on their own or adorning furniture, tatting doilies are timeless treasures that celebrate the art of handcrafted lace-making. So I have made up mind to make some more doilies. So you can see some tatting doilies in this blog.
