My stash- Peacock design Kalamkari patches
Kalamkari is a painting technique on fabric. This is nearly 3000 years old technique, which is practised in Andhra Pradesh. Though it is an ancient art, in modern age too it has a prominent place in design and fashion world. Kalamkari sarees, fabrics and wall panels have good demand in India as well as outside India.
Kalamkari patches:
The designs painted on fabric using kalamkari technique are used as patches on saree and dresses. I have designed many sarees and dresses using kalamkari patches. I love Kalamkari designs and love to design saree with it.
I have few Kalamkari patches in my stash. I still have to design many sarees and dresses using these Kalamkari patches. Kalamkari patches are available in many designs, like peacock designs, elephant designs , floral and mythology figures like Krishna , Rama, Devi etc. In this post sharing some Kalamkari patches in peacock design.
This one is a broad panel design with Kalamkari painting of peacock design
This I am planning to frame and use as wall decor.
The below one is simple small patch in peacock design, it is special one. It has very basic colors used in Kalamkari paintings. This one I am planning to use to design a dress.
This one not only has peacock design, also rose and deer design. This I am going to use for a saree along a border, combined with hand embroidery.
This is specially made for sarees. This has two big patches to be attached on pallu, and few small patches for all over the saree. Similar patches in paisley design, I have attached on a saree.
I have few more Kalamkari patches and fabric in my stash. I will share in the coming posts.
Until then,
Love, Laugh and Live the life to the fullest,
