Rajasthani Relief Painting
This is the Rajasthani relief painting I had started three years ago. This is an art form , which is practiced in Rajasthan. These are mural painting, where the embossed effect is achieved using marble powder paste. Lot of cone work is involved in this painting.
Here is the painting I made :
This is made on an MDF base. First the base is smoothened with sand paper. Then the white base is applied on it. The required picture is drawn on it Then with a cone pilled with marble powder paste, the outer line of the designs are drawn. This requires practice. But the finishing of the painting depends on how well the cone work is done.
Then the embossing the figures of birds and animals, flowers in the designs are done again with marble powder paste. In the closer view of the picture, you can see the embossing work of the painting.
Then again, the small designs on the birds and flowers, and other designs are drawn with cone filled with marble paste. The marble paste is made using fevicol and fine marble powder. The marble powder should be sieved before using so that the cone work will be smooth , also it give good finishing.
Next the entire painting is painted with required paint. Here oil paintings are used. After painting it is allowed dry for one day. Then framed. I have used white frame, and this is how it looks on the wall :
As I had said earlier, the entire beauty of Rajasthani Relief painting , depends on how we do cone work. I need to practice cone work a lot. I am not satisfied with the finishing of the painting, though it looks good. It could have been better if I had done cone work properly. So I have decided to make one more painting. After that I will share the tutorial on how to make it.
