Tatted lace on saree
At last I finished this saree design with tatted lace. This took me a long time to complete this project :). I had designed a saree long back using small tatted motifs, when I learnt tatting beginning. Recently I have designed a saree with all over tatted motifs. But this is the first saree, I have designed with 10 metres tatted lace. Tatting a lace for a saree was always in my bucket list. Two- three years ago, Anchor released some beautiful multi color threads. I fell in love with the shade. I bought few of those.
One is this shade:
So my hands started itching to make a lace. When it comes to tatting, I always like to make a lace. Many tatters love to make doilies and they make magnificent doilies. But I am least inclined towards makingĀ doily. One doily I started, which is taking a long time to complete it. I thought of making a saree lace with this thread, so that I can keep it for myself.
The pattern is a common lace pattern in tatting.
I tatted 10 meters long lace, attached it along the border of the saree. On lower half of the saree, I attached small motifs. You can see it in the closer view.
Glued small pearl like kundans on lace as well as on the motifs. On the pallu, I have attached three magic square designs and the small motifs.
The pallu looks beautiful because of the tatted magic square:

Phew! Some kind of happiness and and a feeling of relief, that I completed this. This has inspired and encouraged me to start another tatted lace for a saree. The details of that I will share in the coming Work In Progress post.
Until then ,
