Simple method of block printing – Tutorial
Most of us know about block printing. Block printed fabric and sarees are very well known in India. The block printing method followed in India is very intricate and requires lot of expertise. I have tried block printing using the traditional method of mixing the pigment , buying the materials from Amazon. For beginners that is very cumbersome and messy. So I have come up with simple method of block printing and sharing with you.
The materials required for block printing:
Block
Fabric
Thin sponge sheet
Fevicryl fabric colors
Waste cloth
Newspaper
Tray

Materials required
Method of block printing:
Place the thin sponge in the tray.

Place the sponge
Pour the Fevicryl color on the sponge and spread it , covering area equal to block size.

Pour the paint on the sponge
Spread the paint:
Now place fabric on the table.

Place the fabric on the table
Take the block and press the design side of the block facing the paint.

Press the block on the sponge
If the paint is more on the block, gently dab the block on the sponge.

The block looks like this now
Now place the block on the fabric and press it.

Press it on the fabric
Then slowly lift the block, the beautiful block print can be seen on the fabric.
