Types of crochet threads
I have shared about six basic tools required for crocheting. Crochet threads are part of these tools. In this post sharing some types of crochet threads I use. This might help in selecting the crochet threads and also the availability of crochet threads.
Crochet threads- woolen
Let me start with woolen threads. Woolen threads are easily available in the market in plenty of colors and texture. Most of the projects like crochet sweater, shawls can be made using woolen threads.
Anchor crochet threads:
These are the crochet threads available from Anchor brand. The below one is tkt 20 crochet threads. These can be used for tatting too.
The below ones are little thicker ones and these also can be used for crocheting.
These are the tkt 20 crochet threads I have in my collection 🙂
These are also from Anchor brand, but the texture is little different from tatting threads.
Hand dyed locally available crochet threads
In some cities , hand dyed threads are also available. These also can be used for making doilies.
Cotton crochet threads:
These are cotton crochet threads. These are also easily available in the market, in different brands , colors and textures.
Pearl cotton crochet threads:
These are called pearl cotton. These have little shine. In Anchor brands too these are available. These are good to make small projects, like jewelries.
The list is endless. Many more brands and types of crochet threads are available in market. Nowadays we can get it online too. But while buying online, it is better to go with the thread color number , rather than seeing the colors in the picture. The color of the actual product may vary. So choose the thread of your choice and start learning or making a crochet project!
Happy crocheting!
