Vara Mahalakshmi Pooje- Decoration
Vara Mahalakshmi Pooje , is celebrated mostly in South India. During this pooja, women worship Lord Lakshmi (Goddess of Fortune and wealth). Invite other women to their houses , and offer them gift, sweets etc. Though, now this festival has become an occasion of showing off their wealth, gold and silver, I like, the way it is celebrated. The celebration starts with decorating the Goddess Laksmi idol. People make the idol with a metal (steel, copper or silver etc). The pot is decorated by wrapping a saree around it and a face of the Goddess Lakshmi, made in metal, is fixed. These are available in markets easily now. This way made idol is decorated with ornaments and flowers.
Due to pandemic , now many people are not invited. This year too I missed seeing the decorations. But one of my friends had shared the decoration at her place. It is very beautifully done. We feel, as if the Goddess Lakshmi is sitting there.
I have shared one more such decorations of Vara Mahalakshmi pooje in my previous post. You can view that, and compare how both the decorations are different.
May Goddess Lakshmi bless you all with prosperity.
