Work In Progress On Wednesday- Redesigning a saree with old Banarasi border
Banarasi borders are famous for its zari and the weaving. Banarasi sarees are famous worldwide. The intricate weaving of Banarasi fabrics makes it look stunning. The motifs used in Banarasi sarees, the bright color combination and the zari work make it look elegant.
I have few Banarasi borders from old sarees. I could not go to market to get matching materials for that, due to pandemic and lock down. Last weekend I went to fabric market here. Many shops are closed due to loss. Some are open , but the regular shop I go had very few collection. Still I could get some matching fabrics for the Banarasi borders I have.
Here are the fabrics and the Banarasi borders I have:
The above one is in dark green color with beautiful floral motifs. For this I have bought a jute silk with all over embroidery.
This one is double colored in Orange and Magenta. For this I have chosen blue with brocade weaving, and it has very thin lines on it in Orange and Magenta. So it is going very well with the saree.
For the third one I got the hand block prints, silk material. The Banarasi border is very unique in three shades. The color of the fabric and the hand block prints on that are looking very elegant. Normally in online shopping the color vary from the photos shown, but I am lucky to get the exact color as I wished.
I am very excited to attach these borders and eager to see the finished saree, also to share with you.
Love, Laugh and Live the life to the fullest,
