Work In Progress on Wednesday- Saree makeover
Old sarees are treasures. We can’t discard the old sarees. That too silk sarees. Nowadays we don’t get the same kind of designs. It is practice to make the old sarees as curtain or pillow covers. But I don’t like to make use of old silk sarees to make pillow covers or curtains or bags etc. I always want to treasure it and wear it. So normally I makeover it to go with the latest trends.
Here is one such saree from my mother. This is soft silk and very old one. I want to use either Kalamkari of Ikkat to makeover this sare. Planning to combine the Banaras fabric too.
Lets see how it comes out ! 🙂
Two weeks ago I had shared about saree design with Madhubani print fabric , in WIP on Wednesday series. The fabric had Madhubani prints, I used those as patch work all over the saree. Here it is:
On wearing it looks like this :
In closer view of the saree, the prints are very clear ,
This saree has come out, same way I had planned to design. I have some more patches left out. Planning to design one more saree with those Madhubani printed patches. The blouse design for this saree is pending. :). Hoping to complete that soon.
With similar , Madhubani print fabric, I have desined another saree. You can view it in this post.
