Works in Progress- Saree Design
Since past few days I am extremely busy. No time to plan any project, and my plans to learn new crafts are on hold. My mother in law was hospitalized and I had to manage all the household chores. And also my tutorial. So I don’t have any completed work to share, but have lots of works in progress 🙂 .
In between I got some time to go to , the famous cloth market Shrirampura, which is paradise for fabric lovers. I had long pending ideas to design many sarees. Many kinds of fabrics were accumulated, which I had bought when I visited some exhibitions or some markets. When I see some fabrics , some design idea flashes in my brain, so I buy the fabric. To design the saree or dress, it takes months, to buy necessary other fabrics, laces etc. Sometime I even forget what was my design idea with the fabric. 🙂
With such accumulated fabrics , to buy required other fabric materials, I had been to Shrirampura. The entire market was filled with Kalamkari block printed fabric, Ikkat fabric and beautiful brocades. Here are my picks from there, which I want to use in designing sarees:
This one is brocade, entire saree I got within Rs. 500. I will attach plain border and pallu to this saree .I think that will look good as entire saree has floral design in gold.

Artificial silk brocade
This one is brocade satin with all over buttas. I want to design this saree with the paisley motifs shown beside. This saree too I got within thousand rupees.

Satin brocade and motifs
The below one , I got for three hundred rupees. I will just design a blouse for this one. Don’t want to design the saree. I guess the motifs are enough.

Brocade with motifs all over
I had the kalamkari patches. So to match the Kalamkari patch, I bought the blue saree. I will attach the brocade border and the kalamkari patches all over the saree.
